Making of movie of our project "Infusion"

The combination of dance, music and animation is something so exciting and attractive. It seems that the
beauty of dance is attractive enough by itself but the opportunity that animation can provide in this field
is unbelievable.

Using new digital achievements can improve the captured movement conceptually and visually.
In this project we used mocap for two reasons:
1. We wanted to have a real dance.
2. We could use mocap data as our source to manipulate them in other software like After Effects to
change them based on our concept and atmosphere that we wanted in our animation.

This project gave us the chance to develop an animation using very advanced technology – the Xsens suit
and to collaborate with professional dancers from the Codarts Academy. In this situation we thought it
would be interesting to create an image where we put the act of dancing into fantastical scenery, something
that would be hardly possible to see in real life. We wanted to create something magical to look at
just like ink into water.

The start point of our concept was the similarity between movement of liquid or smoke with dance. Dancing
a drop of ink in the water is so mysterious or watching the movement of smoke in sunlight is magical.
so we decided to use this similarity in our animation. In one hand our film is similar to an abstract
animation in some aspects but on the other hand we fallowed a kind of story line; separating and joining
together.

As a drop of ink or smoke easily expand in the water or in the air, our dancing figures split and expand in
their environment but when they contact and touch each other they will be one thing again. It is exactly
the same as when two drops of ink contact each other.

Modelled out of polymer clay and painted with acrilics. Its first cause was to be a bribe but it lost it means in the end...perhaps because there was a distance of two years between the time I tooki it out of the oven and the time I started to paint it?
Anyway this was a lot of fun. As prickly as polymer clay seems to be and despite my almighty lack of dexterity I think this pinky-sized figurine turned out quite ok.

This idea was stuck in my head for a while; this is one of my strongest beliefs: communication is the solution to a lot of problems. Sometimes it can save friendships, relationships and who knows maybe even lives. Sometimes it doesn`t depend only on that.

But no matter what, freedom starts with honesty. So, my only advice to anyone is don`t let the silence build walls around you. Don`t avoid talking to people, just say it in their face. I`ve been in both positions: to avoid or to be avoided and I do regret a lot those conversations I didn`t have.

Atelier Tipografic 2

I`m one of the lucky participants in the project Atelier Tipografic 2. As you can see in the photo above made by Razvan Coste, we have a big roll-up on the National Theater of Bucharest!!! The exhibition is still opened until the 20th of may when it will move to Vienna and then to Amsterdam.
AtelierTipografic`s main theme was the identity of Europe. It was a great experience - I`ve met a lot of interesting, funny, creative people, I`ve been to Vienna and irresistibly fell in love with it and its schnitzel, I`ve finally seen Brancusi`s Column of Infinite and the inisdes of People`s House, found out new stuff about Dutch, Austrian and communist graphic design, learned the magic of pasting big self-adhesive sheets of paper on cardboard boxes, and also I`ve been featured in this article. I hope our project wins!

But I after all this I stand towards one question: will I ever be good enough to actually make a difference?

I always have typeface problems! I never seem pick the right font.
Maybe fonts are Gods that we make up - because we always make up our Gods otherwise they wouldn`t exist - and I am just a non believer. Or maybe I just didn`t found the right on.

Why a rooster?
Two reasons:
1. Basically I likedrawing birds but I love chickens hens and roosters, I`d have one as a pet if I could.
